Alice Mcrae

–

Cochran, Georgia

Alice Oree McRae, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that will be cherished for generations.

Born in Empire, Georgia, Alice was the daughter of the late James Daniel Thompson Sr. and Vodice Irene Fordham Thompson. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Robert Adrian McRae; her parents; and her beloved son-in-law, Bryan Schock.

Alice believed in the value of education and earned her bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University. She devoted many years of faithful service as an Inventory Management Specialist at Robins Air Force Base before retiring. She approached both her career and her home with the same quiet determination, integrity, and strong work ethic that defined her life.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Alice was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her church family meant so much to her, and she treasured the friendships she shared with the women of her congregation. She lived her faith through acts of kindness, service, and compassion, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer an encouraging word.

Alice found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending to her flowers and garden, knitting gifts for those she loved, reading a good book, working puzzles, playing the piano, and taking rides on her golf cart. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and easy conversation drew people to her, and she found great happiness in spending time with family and friends.

Above all else, Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world. She celebrated every milestone, treasured every visit, and delighted in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. The love she poured into her family will continue to be reflected in their lives for years to come.

She is survived by her sons, Neil McRae (Sherri) of Atlanta, Rex McRae (Tammy) of Cochran, and Steven McRae (Julie) of Atlanta; her daughter, Julie Schock of Atlanta; her grandchildren, Tommy Dunn of Atlanta, Karen Faulkner (Jonathan) of Lubbock, Texas, Kelsey Dunn of Greenville, South Carolina, Ty McRae (Alyssa) of Atlanta, Trey McRae (Megan) of Atlanta, Joeli Cobb (Ryan) of Cochran, Cole McRae (Taylor) of Cochran, Emma McRae of Atlanta, Ian McRae of Atlanta, and Avery Schock of Atlanta; her brothers, Ronald Thompson (Fay) of Cochran and James Daniel "J.D." Thompson Jr. (Frances) of Milan; and sixteen precious great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of the church. Interment will follow at Yearty Cemetery.

Bishop Steven Arnold, Neil McRae, and Ronald Thompson will officiate.

Cole McRae, Ian McRae, Ty McRae, Ryan Cobb, Braden Cobb and Randy Thompson will serve as pallbearers.

Though Alice's earthly journey has come to an end, the example she leaves behind will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She taught those around her the importance of faith, family, kindness, and perseverance. Her gentle nature, loving heart, and steadfast testimony were gifts to everyone blessed to know her. While she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those who have gone before her and in the promise of eternal families. Her memory will remain a treasured blessing until that joyful day when they meet again.
